The Ocoee Massacre: The Truth Laid Bare

Supervising Editor

As Supervising Editor, Camera Operator, Colorist, and Post Production Director, I helped bring this powerful short film to life during my time at UCF Communications & Marketing. Created to honor the victims and explore the lasting legacy of the 1920 Ocoee Massacre, the piece reflects on nearly a century of silence—and the beginning of healing.

Told with care and clarity, the film bridges the violence of that night with the commemorations of today, uncovering hard truths and unexpected lessons that still resonate. I collaborated with our internal team to shape the edit, guide visual tone, and ensure the weight of the story came through with honesty and respect.

With more than 1.3 million views on YouTube, the project stands as one of UCF’s most impactful pieces to date, reaching wide audiences while contributing to an ongoing dialogue about justice, memory, and reconciliation.
